The North East Tasmania Field Naturalist Club was formed in 1972. It is a non-political body whose mission is to encourage the study, appreciation and preservation of our natural and cultural environment, including animals, plants, geology and landforms in the north east region of Tasmania. Monthly excursions are held into the diverse landscapes of the northeast including the rainforests, the coastal heathlands, the beaches and coastal saltmarshes, and the mountains and sub-alpine areas of the N.E. Highlands. Often these excursions are led by people with expertise and specialist knowledge. Outings are held on the second Saturday of each month. In two of the winter months, the club holds its social events which often involve watching films and listening to speakers on various subjects. A calendar of scheduled outings can be seen below and on the club’s website
